Helping You Sleep on Your Next Flight

One thing no one disputes…Airplanes are noisy.

Chatty Cathy passengers, crying babies, snoring passengers and blaring plane engines. And, let’s face it once you hear these noises it’s hard to tune them out. Not the best environment to get some restful sleep, especially on long-haul flights.

So, to help you try to capture that ‘peace’ to get some rest here are some suggestions...

New Sleep Phones Wireless Travel Product

is the latest innovation for your travel.

If you are a side-sleeper, check out the noise-cancelling wireless SleepPhones. They lay softly and flat over the ears, allowing you to sleep on your side or against your partner’s shoulder. These headphones can also connect to Bluetooth so you can listen to relaxing music as you fly the friendly skies. They come in different colors.

Our first piece of advice is investing in a good pair of headphones. According to the Washington Post, “The interior of a plane is about as loud as a diesel train passing you at a distance of 100 feet.”

A good pair of ‘Noise-Cancelling Headphones’ will give you a fighting chance for falling asleep during the flight.

The most popular and favorite for most all seasoned travelers is the Bose QuietControl 35 wireless headphones. They feature a design that eliminates some of the pressure associated with other headphones when they’re fitted over your ears. The Bose QuietControl 35 series II now has Alexa voice control. Bose also have less expensive options available for their noise-cancelling headphones such as the mid-range Bose QuietControl 25. There is also the more budget-friendly Bose Monoprice Noise Canceling Headphones with Active Noise Reduction Technology.

One app. Complete control.

Use the Bose Connect app to adjust the level of noise cancellation, unlock Bose AR*, enable music sharing, manage Bluetooth connections, and access software updates.

The Happyluxe Wayfarer Wrap is a travel blanket wrap containing a hidden pocket, which holds an air-activated warmer for your neck. New Travel Pillow

No more nodding heads! No more drooling on your partners shoulder!
Whether you are flying, on a train or in a car the TRTL PILLOW travel pillow keeps your    head in a NEUTRAL POSITION when sleeping upright by holding your head in an ergonomic position during rest. The super soft fleece pillow has an integrated strong plastic support system and is Scientifically proven to support your neck.  It is designed to look like a scarf and is easily & fully adjustable for your comfort. It attaches easily to the handle of your backpack or suitcase, it only weighs half-a-pounds, comes in different colors and is machine washable. Best of all it can be flattened out for easy storage.

HINT: if you want to fall asleep faster and have a more restful sleep try using the scent of lavender. When you board the plane, place a few drops of the lavender oil in your hands and inhale the fragrance. Next, rub it on your temples or wrists.

Here are a couple of suggestions!

Light streaming through a window or from an overhead reading lamp prevents the release of melatonin, a hormone that helps you sleep. Try the Yiview Sleep Mask - Upgraded -100% blackout eye mask.  These have a 3D-contoured shape to completely cover your eyes without touching your eyelids. No pressure on your eyes, allows you to blink freely and won’t touch your eye make-up. The smooth fabric is lightweight and breathable against your skin. The elastic strap is fully adjustable to every head size from 18.5” to 27.5” with a plastic clasp not Velcro which snags pillow fabric’s and grabs your hair and pulls it out.

Fluffy Socks or travel sock slippers

To get settled into that long flight how about donning a part of fluffy socks with soft soles or a pair of slippers to keep your feet warm?  This will help to keep your toes and feet warm, as well as, provide protection when walking the planes aisles to stretch or going to the bathrooms. Gawd only knows what is on those floors. CLICK HERE FOR SUGGESTIONS.

HINT: If you are wearing compression stockings, I would suggest you opt for slippers with a soft sole to wear over them as you do not want to take off your stockings until you are finished with your air travel.  Take in your carry-on bag a large ziplock baggie so when you are done wearing either your socks or slippers you can place them in there to contain any filth or bacteria.  You can clean them when you get to your hotel room.

Compression Stockings

These specialized stockings use strong elastics to create significant pressure on the legs, ankles and feet. Compression knee-high stockings are tightest at the ankles and gradually become less constrictive toward the knees and thighs. By compressing the surface veins, arteries and muscles, they force circulating blood through to increase circulation to help promote blood circulation and oxygen flow preventing cramping, fatigue, swelling and helps in muscle recovery, spider and varicose veins.

Melatonin Supplements

As an alternative to sleeping pills how about reaching for a more natural supplement called Melatonin; especially if you are taking a long flight across several time zones. Take a dose about half an hour before you want to sleep, and you will be less likely to lay awake.  Please consult with your physician first before taking it. CLICK HERE FOR SUGGESTIONS

Relaxation App

Your headphones are over your ears, you are settled into that long flight and you want to get some rest…what are you going to listen to? Today there are so many options to lure yourself into an audio bliss.  Some download and enjoy audio books, others love soothing genre’ specific piano, guitar or trumpet music.

Well, to really get into that relaxed and restful state of sleep how about entertaining a relaxation app.  There are peaceful guided medication app’s where you are instructed to breath, relax and calm yourself after all the stresses of getting to the airport and onto the plane. Or, how about a White Noise app where you have options to just listen to the sounds of an ocean, falling rain, waterfalls or just plain white noise to drown out exterior noises.  Whatever you decide there are lots of options out there free or fee-based.  Be sure to do your research before you leave home.
